Otis Brown
Otis Brown is our Visitation Minister and visits about 80 people a week at the Salem Care Center, Seville Nursing Center, Salem Residential Care, and the Long-Term Care Unit of Salem Memorial Hospital. He, also, checks on the status of many who are ill through either phone calls or visits.
In his 90’s and still going strong, Otis has preached the gospel for Missouri Churches of Christ at Winona, Ellington, Jadwin, Salem, Edgar Springs, and Gospel Chapel outside of Licking. He also preached for two congregations in Arkansas.
Otis was born September 24, 1925. He married his now deceased wife, Lola, on November 1, 1946, and was baptized into Christ in 1957. This faithful Christian couple was blessed with four children: Lois (deceased), Donna, Earl and Mona. Otis currently has five grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
He particularly enjoys providing encouragement and comfort to elderly or sick folks who are having a bad day or need some cheer. Having assembled with, and ministered to, many congregations through his long life, Otis likes the fact that people of many different age groups are part of our congregation, and believes the congregation has both good leaders and good workers.
Otis’ favorite passage in the Bible is John 14:1-6 “Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know. Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way? Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”
Dennis Crocker
Randy Grauf
Rick Prugh
Dennis Crocker became a shepherd (elder) of the Salem Church of Christ in 1998. His grandfather and father also served as shepherds of the congregation.Dennis has been a member of this congregation since 1958.

Dennis loves the church family. He feels that the work of the Shepherd is to love and care for the family in living as a example before them. He feels that we must be concern about the lost souls and must try to help them come to Christ. The Shepherds need to encourage every member to grow and to provide as much as possible the opportunity to do so.

He believes that it is important to listen and be connected to the family of God. He believes that a true leader in the church is more of a shepherd not a CEO. He looks to the Great Shepherd, Jesus as an example as he cares for the congregation. Randy hopes to do something or say something that will help someone have a better journey in life.
Randy enjoys being a part of Christians who is so accepting and loving. He enjoys meeting with the Church every opportunity that he has. He is very involved with teaching bible classes.

Matt enjoys helping others and using his talents, with his primary responsibilities involving youth ministry and assisting others with maintaining our building and grounds.
He and his wife Jennifer consistently think of new ways to serve the congregation and enhance community awareness about our church family. Matt and Jennifer were married in _____ and their children are Dillon, Braiden, and Molly.

Dallas Hollenbeck and his wife Shirley have worked with our church family for over 20 years. They were members of the congregation from 1968 to 1979 and returned in 2007 before Dallas was named as a deacon in 2010. While Dallas has been active by serving in various capacities, he currently manages the congregation’s budget and finances. He, also, assists the other deacons in maintaining our buildings and grounds.
Dallas enjoys serving as a deacon because it allows him to serve our church family, which he loves, while allowing our elders to focus on the spiritual needs of this congregation in the body of Christ. Dallas enjoys being a part of our church family that he believes has good leaders and people willing to help with any work that needs to be done.
Dallas was baptized into Christ in 1955. He and Shirley have been married since _____, and share their home with their son Billy. This long-time servant of the Lord says his favorite verse in the Bible is II Timothy 2:15, which says “Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.”
Dean Jones and his family became members of our church family in 2005, and he began serving as a Deacon in 2010.
Dean feels a deep responsibility to serve God and his church family by using his talents and skills in any way possible.

Wade Jadwin became a baptized believer of Jesus Christ in 1981 and a member of the Salem Church of Christ in 1994. He has been serving as one of our deacons for about 20 years. In that role, Wade has managed our community benevolence ministry and our budget and finances. Currently, he is enjoying his important role in helping maintain our buildings and grounds.
Wade married his wife, Susan, in 1988. Their daughter, Hannah, is pursuing her Education degree at Harding University in Searcy, Arkansas. Wade says they enjoy the family atmosphere of this congregation where people work well together and do not judge others.
Wade’s favorite Bible passage is 1 Timothy 1:12-17. “I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has given me strength, that he considered me trustworthy, appointing me to his service. Even though I was once a blasphemer and a persecutor and a violent man, I was shown mercy because I acted in ignorance and unbelief. The grace of our Lord was poured out on me abundantly, along with the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus.
Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners—of whom I am the worst. But for that very reason I was shown mercy so that in me, the worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display his immense patience as an example for those who would believe in him and receive eternal life. Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory for ever and ever. Amen.”
